CAT Connect

In Partnership with The Place, London & Hot House Dance. A unique intensive dance training course designed to identify and assist, young dancers with exceptional potential in dance, creativity and performance skills.



The Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) at The Place London, and Hot House Dance are delighted to partner together to deliver the Hertfordshire CAT Connect scheme. Hot House Dance is an organisation based in Hertfordshire that inspires excellence in dance training. The CAT Scheme at The Place, London is an advanced training scheme for young people aged 12– 18 years who have energy, commitment and passion for dance.

What is CAT Connect

CAT Connect is a very unique intensive dance training course designed to identify, support and develop, young dancers with exceptional potential in dance, creativity and performance skills, to broaden their knowledge and prepare and progress them into exploring exciting routes into advanced and professional dance training. 

What do dancers gain

Dancers will receive weekly training taught by professional dance teachers/artists, and visiting guest teachers, all of whom have extensive experience in the dance industry. 

The curriculum has been carefully designed to give dancers a strong grounding in dance technique and creative skills in contemporary dance, dancers will take part in a range of performance opportunities, as well as an introduction to the wider dance industry/profession. 

The CAT Connect Course focuses on 5 core areas: 

1. Advanced contemporary dance technique, 

2. Developing creativity and choreography skills, 

3. Expanding Performance skills through a range of performance opportunities, 

4. Gaining wider knowledge of Dancers’ health and well-being.

5. Bespoke dance career and progression guidance.

At the end of the Course, dancers will be signposted to other dance opportunities in the region and beyond.

Who can apply

The CAT Connect course is open to any young person aged between 12-18 years old to apply

What does the course cost

CAT Connect is funded and subsidised by the Department for Education, Music and Dance Scheme, Which enables access and participation opportunities to children from all backgrounds
